Do you ever go to the gym to just have fun, with no real “plan” in mind?⁣ ⁣ It’s been awhile since I’ve had a “fun” workout. Most of my time in the gym is training with a specific workout plan from my strength and running coaches. ⁣ ⁣ But yesterday I went up to Mud Sweat and Tears with just the goal of having some fun and seeing friends. ⁣ ⁣ Ended up teaming with Christy to work on our deadlifts. She crushed her PR max! Then we worked together to take on the Spartan Open Challenge. You wouldn’t even be able to tell she was 8 months post ACL surgery the way she attacked that workout! ⁣ ⁣ My final time was much slower than I wanted. I haven’t worked on fast functional movements in awhile and it shows. Been focusing on other things. I’ll have to add it back into my workouts. But it was still so awesome pushing myself hard and being with a bunch of others racers doing the same! Thanks to MST for having me!! 🦁
Who would you like to jump the Fire with?? 🔥#FireJumpFridayWithFriends ⁣ This picture was at the end of the Killington Beast, one of the toughest races. We were all pretty tired, but we were so excited to jump that fire! It was a lot of fun getting through that race together!!
How do you handle your bad days?⁣ #KeepingItReal ⁣ It doesn’t happen very often but today was one of those days where it felt like nothing was going right. Lots of frustrations at work. Between crazy expectations from leadership, annoying employees, and technology that just wasn’t working, it had me in the worst mood. ⁣ ⁣ But I was able to get through it and then decompress afterwards. Vent a little and just move on. Didn’t let myself dwell or wallow in it. I have too many goals to let one bad day bring me down! ⁣ ⁣ Hope you’re all having an awesome day! If you’re not, I’ll bet one is coming soon!🦁 ⁣
What new training techniques have you added to get better in 2020?⁣ ⁣ As an OCR athlete, you would think bouldering would come naturally. However it requires a very different kind of strength and dexterity than most OCR obstacles. It was really humbling to attempt the walls today and realize some things I need to work on. But even when I fell off, I was still having fun! ⁣ ⁣ “Climb the mountain, not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge!” - David McCullough Jr⁣

How do you avoid sweating the small stuff?⁣ ⁣ I know I sometimes fall into that trap of stressing out about minor, insignificant little problems. They seem like big issues, but after some time passes, I then realize I was stressing over nothing. ⁣ ⁣ What makes it worse is when I see a tragedy happen, either a natural disaster or an accident, where peoples lives were lost. I then feel silly and stupid for even wasting my time focused on such meaningless things. It’s a reminder I wish I never needed, but helps me remember how important every day is. It then helps me refocus my priorities and get back on the right track! 🦁
